      Contents
Contents of lectures Through lectures, term papers, and student presentations, this course explores themes demonstrating that mythical chaos was never equated with nothingness, neutrality, death, or absolute disorder; rather, chaos and cosmos—nature and culture—form a single, unified whole. The cosmos is not necessarily linked to the creation of the world. Myth posits that the world is like a story, pointing toward a path for discovering the world’s meaning. This course will examine the role of myth within Chinese philosophy, literature, and the culture of everyday life in China.
