    The goal Introducing students to the developmental changes and typological differentiation of Slovak poetry in the first half of the 20th century, acquiring literary and theoretical knowledge and applying that knowledge in specific text analyses.
    The outcome The student remembers the developmental changes in Slovak poetry in the first half of the 20th century, analyzes individual poets and their poetics, and compares them with each other and with poets of the previous stage.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures The subject covers poetry in the first half of the 20th century, from Slovak modernism and symbolism through the typological differentiation of Slovak poetry of the 1920s and 1930s.
    Contents of exercises The emphasis is placed on the dominant poetic movements of this period (modernism, symbolism, poetics, surrealism, Catholic modernism) through a concrete analysis of the work and interpretation of the most significant poetic achievements (I. Krasko, J. Smrek, E.B. Lukač, L. Novomeski, V. Benjak, surrealist and Catholic modern poets).
