| The goal | Theoretical introduction of students to an overview of the spiritual culture and beliefs of the Ancient Slavs before Christianization, with an overview of the history of Ukrainian culture and the most significant historical and cultural events of the period from the 2nd/2nd of the 9th century to the end of the 14th century. | |||
| The outcome | The student becomes familiar with presentations, illustrations and excerpts of the most significant written monuments of Old Ukrainian literature in the original language, acquires a general knowledge of its most prominent phenomena, and masters the technique of reading, translating and analyzing literary texts. | |||

| Contents of lectures | An overview of the spiritual culture and beliefs of the Old Slavs before Christianization, an overview of the history of Ukrainian culture and the most significant historical and cultural events of the period from the 2nd/2nd half of the 9th century to the end of the 14th century. Through the topic of An overview of the oldest forms of folk art, for example the spring, summer, autumn, winter cycles of folk rites and customs; dumas, epics, historical and lyrical poems, the student becomes acquainted in detail and acquires a general knowledge of the types and classification of the Ukrainian epic, acquires the skills of interpretation, analysis and comparison with the same or similar types and genres in Serbian folk literature. | |||
