| The goal | • To acquire further knowledge of the various language characteristics of three different registers in English (EU English, legal English and business and financial English) and their implications for translation (in terms of cultural differences, content, word chioce, text function, syntactic patterns, information structure, etc.); • To deal with the issue of culture-bound language and its implication for translation; • To recognize and develop an awareness of the methodology of translation and terminology characteristic for particular subject fields; • To develop practical research techniques necessary to find solutions for translation problems in the various subject fields; • To become acquainted with different translation assessment strategies | |||
| The outcome | The students who have passed this exam know how to do the translation of non-literary texts from English into Serbian and vice versa, which means that they are trained to translate the texts from a variety of areas written in different registers: EU English, legal English, business and financial English. | |||

| Contents of lectures | The basics of non-literary translation, the basic characteristic of various registers, the EU institutions, the basics of drafting agreements, the division of courts, civil law vs. common law, the basic of criminal law, market economy,financial statements and accounting, human rights. | |||
