The goal The main objective is for students to acquire translation competences, that is, a set of different skills involving both linguistic and extralinguistic knowledge. At this level, this means acquiring advanced competence in translating non-specialised texts from Spanish into Serbian and from Serbian into Spanish, and enabling students to: use translation as a means of improving their knowledge of Spanish in general and their written competence in particular; understand the differences between Serbian and Spanish; use dictionaries, parallel texts and online sources.
The outcome Students demonstrate, through pre-exam activities and particularly in the final exam, that they have acquired the knowledge needed to translate a given text, starting from comprehension of the text and of linguistic and cultural differences and proceeding to the final formulation of the translation, while observing all other relevant parameters (orthography, style, etc.).
    Contents
Contents of lectures Acquisition of basic knowledge of translation theory. Text typology and its application to the translation of complete texts. Contrastive differences between Serbian and Spanish. Sources and tools for translating Serbian and Spanish texts.
Contents of exercises Translation of more complex texts, with emphasis on problems of contrastive analysis, particularly in translation from Spanish into Serbian. Sentences, paragraphs and complete texts are translated, with joint analysis of translation solutions.
