    The goal Improving students' skills and competencies needed to produce functional translations that meet the diverse demands of the translation market. Basic understanding of professional fields and extra-linguistic factors that influence translation, as well as skills in translating culturally specific texts. Analyzing the source and translated text and applying appropriate translation procedures. Working with corpuses and parallel texts. Familiarization with the types of texts that exist within each of the specialist fields, as well as mastering the commands and functions of word processing software that are necessary for writing and translating professional texts. Improving the ability to use reference printed and electronic manuals, glossaries and dictionaries. Improving the competencies and skills of consecutive interpretation. Achieving a basic level of professional competence in the skills and strategies of simultaneous interpretation in all phases of performing a translation task.
    The outcome The student possesses the skills and competencies required to produce a functional translation that meets the various requirements of the translation market and knows how to use the registers of the professional fields covered by the curriculum in the translation process. The student is able to understand to a certain extent the professional fields and extra-linguistic factors that influence translation and knows how to translate a culturally specific text. The student uses word processing software during everyday translation activities. The student is competent to proofread his or her own and other people's translations and verify the final translation. The student has compiled glossaries for the specialist fields covered by the curriculum. The student applies the principles of conference interpreting in real-life situations, demonstrates key cognitive skills for conference interpreting, such as concentration, listening and speaking at the same time, analysis of one's own production, and demonstrates mastery of the skills and strategies required for conference interpreting, such as list interpreting, stress control, and divided attention. The student uses standard professional equipment in interpreting practice.

    Contents of lectures Topic 1: Business language and translation of economic texts; media language; translation of professional texts in the field of technical sciences and information technologies. Topic 2: Improving consecutive interpreting techniques and preparing for simultaneous interpreting. Topic 3: Adopting simultaneous interpreting techniques. Topic 4: The process of creating a glossary for the purposes of simultaneous interpreting. Adopting a code of conduct in the cabin.
    Contents of exercises Glossary creation, group or individual translation of a short unfamiliar text in class, testing of knowledge of professional terminology at the end of each area and a translation project that is done outside of class and consists of individual translation of a professional text up to 10 pages long. Consecutive interpreting exercises and preparation for simultaneous interpreting. Translating the same text consecutively, then simultaneously. Simultaneous interpreting with knowledge of the text. Simultaneous interpreting of an unfamiliar text (speech). Thematic workshops: advanced skills, strategies and tactics of conference (simultaneous) interpreting in the following areas: judiciary, economics, trade, international business, current political events, industry, science and technology. Use of equipment in the booth.
