      The goal Introducing students to the developmental changes, poetics and typological differentiation of Slovak prose in the first half of the 20th century.
      The outcome The student analyzes and memorizes the works of key prose writers in the first half of the 20th century, compares their poetics, and concludes what the dominant prose tendencies were in the interwar period.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures The subject covers prose in the first half of the 20th century. The emphasis is on the typological differentiation of prose, on the main works within the realistic /naturalistic/ and modernist /lyrical prose, expressionistic prose/ tendencies.
      Contents of exercises Analysis and interpretation of the most significant novels and short stories of the first half of the 20th century, with an emphasis on their typological and differential features. Literary naturalism of L. Nadashi, expressionism of J. Hrushovsky and naturalistic expressionism of G. Vamos. Analysis of the works of representatives of naturalistic prose (L. Ondrejov, M. Figuli, D. Chrobak, F. Schwantner), and the works of modernists M. Urban, J. C. Hronsky, as well as the "poet of the story" D. Tatarka.
